From Help Desk to Director - Now Home in Lake County
Some people plan their way into a career. I stumbled into IT in 1995, got hooked immediately, and never looked back. What started as curiosity turned into a 30-year journey from the help desk all the way to the boardroom, and eventually, back home to Lake County where I belong.
I built my entire foundation the old-fashioned way: hands-on, self-taught, and driven by genuine love of problem-solving. In those early years on the help desk, I developed something no certification can teach, patience. The kind that makes a frustrated business owner feel heard instead of talked down to. The kind that turns a confusing tech problem into a clear, calm conversation.
That foundation carried me to Los Angeles, where I served as Director of Technology in the fast-moving media and entertainment industry. There, I built infrastructure from the ground up, oversaw strategic IT planning and budgeting, managed complex vendor relationships, enforced security and compliance standards, and drove enterprise-level digital transformation projects. These weren't small, forgiving environments, they were high-stakes organizations where technology failure wasn't an option.
But after years in that corporate world, something became clear: I was done with it. Not burned out, just finished. I had reached the ceiling of what large organizations could offer, and the pull of home was stronger than any executive title.
So I came back. Back to Lake Bluff, where my roots are. Back to be close to family and aging parents. And back with a clear mission: to bring everything I learned building enterprise-level IT systems to the small businesses and residents of Lake County who deserve that same quality of service, without the corporate runaround.
That mission became Rockland Technology.
